The personal mobility services app, SMOU, is advancing its commitment to contribute to the digitalisation of the city’s car parks and to a more planned and sustainable mobility system. A new agreement with the Gremi de Garatges i Província will enable SMOU to be integrated as a payment method for pay-by-the-minute parking in car parks operated by other providers. This partnership will be particularly beneficial for small and medium-sized car parks, as it allows them to offer digital payment options.
Specifically, the features to be introduced in the Gremi de Garatges car parks include licence plate recognition for access and digital payment for pay-by-the-minute parking through the ‘Parking via app’ service, which lets users pay for parking via their mobile phone without needing to use a ticket machine.
For over a year, SMOU has also provided information on the location and services of more than 300 car parks belonging to the Gremi de Garatges and for 100 of these, it offers real-time information on available spaces.

Nowadays, SMOU has over 1,400,000 users in Barcelona and the Metropolitan Area, offering a range of twenty mobility services. The app includes solutions such as payment for regulated surface parking by minute using the 'Parking meter' service, management of AREA parking spaces for residents with the 'Barcelona Residents' service, payment for the BSM Car Parks with the'Parking via app' service, electric vehicle charging points with the 'Endolla Barcelona' service, booking rides with the 'Taxi' service, or the shared bike service 'Bicing'. You can also find information on bike sharing, car sharing and scooter sharing services, as well as real-time public transport information.
