Starting from 7 October, the implementation of the unification of regulated parking zones 17 and 23 in the Horta-Guinardó District will begin. Once these actions are completed, the new unified AREA residents' zone will be designated as Zone 17.
This improvement stems from the analysis of the supply and demand for regulated parking in the neighbourhoods of Can Baró, Guinardó, and Baix Guinardó, and from an agreement between the residents and the Horta-Guinardó District, with the aim of making it easier for residents of these neighbourhoods to park.
Information for residents of the former Zone 23
All residents of the former Zone 23 who are the registered owners of a vehicle at their address will become part of Zone 17 and will be able to park in the Green spaces within the limits of the new Zone 17.
As a resident of these areas, you won't need to take any action. From 30 September, you'll receive a letter at your home informing you of the zone change to which you will be assigned, the geographical boundaries of the new Zone 17, and operational information about the regulated parking service for residents.
Once you receive this letter, you'll be granted resident parking rights in the AREA with the Zone 17 resident rate, and you'll therefore be able to park as a resident within the limits of the new unified Zone 17. If you have any ongoing parking tickets as a resident of the former Zone 23, they'll automatically be transferred to Zone 17.
How to obtain your ticket
To obtain on-street parking tickets as a resident, you can use the 'Residents Barcelona' service on the SMOU app.
From there, you can get tickets for as little as one day, and up to the end of the year. Since it’s a digital ticket, it can be securely checked in real-time by the attendant's device, so there’s no need to use a parking meter or place any sticker or paper ticket on your vehicle.
The parking meter in your pocket
With SMOU, you can also obtain on-street parking tickets as a non-resident for Blue and Green spaces digitally through the 'Parking Meter' service. All regulated parking services in Barcelona are available in one single app, SMOU.
