SMOU, the mobility app for Barcelona and the Metropolitan Area, continues to grow and expands its scope to include the municipality of Sant Adrià de Besòs. From now on, SMOU users will be able to get their parking tickets also in this municipality from their mobile phones, easily and conveniently, without having to go to the parking meter.
In this way, Sant Adrià joins the other municipalities of the Metropolitan Area that were already available in the SMOU app: Barcelona, Badalona, Castelldefels, Esplugues de Llobregat, El Prat de Llobregat, l’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Montgat, Sant Boi de Llobregat, Sant Joan Despí, Sant Just Desvern and Santa Coloma de Gramenet. This is an added value for smouers, who will be able to move around all these locations and pay for regulated on-street parking from a single application on their mobile phones.
With this addition, SMOU currently manages a total of 100,595 regulated on-street parking spaces in all these municipalities of the Metropolitan Area, including almost 69,000 in Barcelona.
Nowadays, SMOU has over 975,000 users in Barcelona and the Metropolitan Area, offering a range of twenty mobility services. In addition to payment for regulated surface parking by minute using the 'Parking meter' service, the app includes solutions such as the management of AREA parking spaces for residents with the 'Barcelona Residents' service, payment for the BSM Car Parks with the 'Parking via app' service, electric vehicle charging points with the 'Endolla Barcelona' service, booking rides with the 'Taxi' service, or the shared bike service 'Bicing'. You can also find information on bike sharing, car sharing, and motorbike sharing services, as well as real-time public transport information.
Last year, SMOU recorded a total of 16.4 million transactions. This equates to nearly 45,000 daily transactions, which is five times more than during its first year of operation. The most commonly used services were Bicing and payment for regulated surface parking by the minute, with 11.5 and 4.7 million annual transactions respectively.
