We kick off 2024 with a look back at how the SMOU app evolved throughout 2023. It's been a year marked by significant achievements and growth within the smouer community.
The app has grown, hitting the milestone of 1,000,000 users, thanks in part to the increased mobility options offered by SMOU.
With the introduction of the new 'Taxi' service, you can now request and pay for your taxi rides anytime, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
In 2023, Sant Boi de Llobregat joined SMOU, bringing the total number of municipalities where you can use the app through the 'Parking meter' service to 12 . This expansion underscores our dedication to improving mobility in Barcelona and the metropolitan area.
Among the expanded features, we want to highlight the ability to access location and service information for half of Barcelona's parkings. In total, there are now 300 parkings, double the number from a year ago.
In terms of user experience, we've made several improvements. Logging in with fingerprint and facial recognition has made accessing the app faster and simpler, and additional security measures like two-step verification have been introduced to ensure the protection of your data.
In the sustainability and technology domain, towards the end of the year, SMOU claimed victory in the Smart Mobility category at the enerTIC awards for innovation and energy competitiveness.
Throughout 2023, we took part in various events, including the UITP Global Public Transport Summit, Parking Day, Barcelona International Community Day, and Tomorrow Mobility World Congress. These opportunities provided us with a platform to share the vision of a more digitally-driven urban mobility.
In 2024, we will work vigorously to promote a more connected, integrated, shared, and sustainable mobility, aiming to build a healthy and cutting-edge Barcelona.
The app will continue to grow with the goal of enhancing and facilitating your mobility in Barcelona and the Metropolitan Area.
